Queen & Collins is a place of character — completely reimagined through a $238 million repositioning project by GPT. A place that celebrates the bold and the individual, it's clear that this icon was never interested in being ordinary.
BENGAR was appointed by GPT to create high-end digital art to celebrate the building's uniqueness. As a foundation, we honoured the design origins of the building with William Wardell's 1887 vision for The Gothic Bank. An unconventional tale of intrigue and excellence.
Our focus for Queen & Collins is a revival of gothic design principles, reprised for the building's LED digital screens and large format interior prints. So, we created a series of visual interpretations of the historic gargoyles, stained glass, and cathedral features which have adorned the building since inception. Old, but so new.
The curated works flow from print in the building entrance and foyer, to tenant directory screens, meeting room wayfinding, and end-of-trip screens. For the interior elevator screens, we created an art experience exploring the notion of vertical movement – transporting our visitors from floor to floor.
All works are bespoke and entirely unique. Created by hand in the BENGAR studio and embellished with procedural animation.
