Australians are facing a collection of growing issues that are impacting our present – and our future. But we aren't facing them alone. In all corners of Australia, there are incredible individuals attempting to solve our nation's biggest issues. Innovating their own world whilst making our country a better place.
Australian actor Guy Pearce presents 'Advancing Australia,' a landmark television series uncovering inspirational stories of ordinary Australians who are doing extraordinary things with passions for change and cutting-edge ideas, proving that we can all do better, together.
Our 12 episode themes were selected for their national importance, and the 36 personal stories selected for humanity and social impact to which all Australians of all demographics can relate. We prioritised representing our diverse population, from dense metropolitan areas to regional and remote Australia. We hope all Australians see themselves somewhere in the series.
Guy Pearce says,
"Series creator Ben Gartland and his team have done an exceptional job of exploring some far-reaching corners of our great nation and uncovering some wonderful new and world-leading ideas that are emerging."
'Advancing Australia' is entirely focused on change, diversity, and inclusion. We selected a diverse range of issues of national importance, including the health of our oceans, fighting food waste, physical access for all, innovating food production, better mental health, sustainable energy, immersive education, space connectivity, ending extinction of our flora and fauna, remote access to medical, LGBTQIA+ identity and inclusion, and bushfire management.
Supported by AGL Advancing Australia aired Saturdays on Channel 10 at 6pm and reached 3.2 million viewers (Metro + Regional). It also saw high playback online on 10play, with over 64,000 segment views. The series also received an enormous amount of publicity during its run.
